For seniors in Medina County, the safest winter setup is a seasonal snow removal plan that clears the driveway, front walk and steps after every qualifying snowfall, with salt on walking surfaces. Adult children can set it up for their parents, and we can coordinate with whoever manages the account.
Heavy, wet Ohio snow is hard work, and a slip on an icy step is a real risk. If you have aging parents in Brunswick, Medina or nearby, setting up reliable snow removal is one of the most practical things you can do before winter.
What to set up
- A seasonal plan, so nobody has to remember to call during a storm. Seasonal vs. per-visit explained.
- Driveway plus walks and steps. The path from the door to the car and the mailbox matters most.
- Salt or ice melt on steps and walks, especially after freezing rain.
Small things that help
- Good outdoor lighting at the steps and the garage.
- A sturdy handrail on the porch steps.
- A bucket of ice melt by the door for touch-ups.
- Gutters cleaned in fall, so downspouts don't dump water onto walkways where it refreezes.
